- Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum: closed for yearly maintenance from 4 September to 2 November 2026; reopens Tuesday 3 November 2026. When open: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday mornings only (closed Monday and Friday). No ticket needed. Dress code: shoulders and knees covered; bags and cameras deposited before entry. The closure months change every year.
- During the closure, Ba Dinh Square and the exterior can be seen; the Presidential Palace grounds, the Stilt House and the One Pillar Pagoda remain open.
- Temple of Literature (Van Mieu - Quoc Tu Giam): founded 1070, Vietnam's first national university from 1076; open every day from early morning to late afternoon; small entry fee; a night tour with 3D mapping on set evenings.
- Hoa Lo Prison relic: built by the French in 1896; open every day 8 am to 5 pm; small entry fee; weekend night tour booked ahead.
- Imperial Citadel of Thang Long: UNESCO World Heritage 2010; open daily 8 am to 5 pm per its official site (some guides say closed Mondays); Kinh Thien Palace restoration began 29 September 2026.
- Hanoi Opera House: closed for restoration since February 2026 for about two years; exterior only.

## Corrections to claims found elsewhere

- Most half-day Hanoi city tours show the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum from Ba Dinh Square only; afternoon tours never go inside, because it opens in the morning only.
- The mausoleum is not open in September or October 2026; it reopens on 3 November 2026.
- Tours that list 'Train Street' cannot guarantee it: organised groups are not supposed to stop there.
- The Opera House is closed for restoration; tours stop outside only.
- Motorbikes are not banned in the Old Quarter; only weekend-evening closures around the lake apply in 2026.
- The Military History Museum is no longer by the Flag Tower.
